This song arose from a realisation during a country walk that however beautiful the countryside is, much of it's landscape has been shaped in the exploitation and persecution of our fellow creatures. Farmers, gamekeepers and the like often view themselves as "guardians of the countryside." This myth needs to go. The countryside is everybody's and many of the attitudes and activities within it need to change - as rapidly as possible!
